Meet Hanna Kovalenko
Voice and Piano Teacher
Hanna Kovalenko, born and raised in Kremenchug, Ukraine, is a versatile musician and educator.
With a strong voice and keen hearing skills, she began her musical journey as a vocalist, entertaining
at children’s parties from a young age. Encouraged by her parents, she embarked on formal training
in piano and vocal studies at the Kremenchug School of Music starting in her first grade and all
throughout her school years. Hanna actively participated in regional music contests, showcasing her
piano skills and serving as a soloist in the choir.
Upon completing her studies at the Music school, Hanna pursued further education at the
Kremenchuk Pedagogical College named after A.S. Makarenko. There, she obtained qualifications as
a primary school teacher with a specialization in music, enabling her to teach piano and vocal lessons
and conduct children’s choirs.
From 1999 to 2022, Hanna was an integral part of the vocal studio “Obriy,” where she showcased her
talents as a soloist and soprano voice in the quartet known as “Obriy.” The quartet achieved
recognition, receiving one of the highest honors as a Folk Vocal Amateur Group in 2001.
Continuously striving for self-improvement in the field of music, Hanna expanded her repertoire by
learning to play the alto saxophone and blockflutes. Since 2006, she has been actively involved as a
wedding musician, contributing her skills as a vocalist, saxophone player, and songwriter in various
musical endeavors. Additionally, she frequently participated in vocal contests such as “The Voice of
Ukraine” and “Folk Star.”
Outside of her musical pursuits, Hanna has been a vibrant presence in various city events, often
performing as a vocalist, saxophonist, or pianist to accompany other singers during city celebrations.
One of her most rewarding experiences has been her work as a Music Teacher in a kindergarten,
where she engaged with children aged 4-6, nurturing their musical talents.
Currently residing in Houston, Texas for the past two years, Hanna divides her time between coaching
women at the “Curves” gym in the mornings and taking part in a Ukrainian Music Theater in
Woodlands, Texas performing as an actress, conductor of the vocal group and a vocal soprano singer.
